1. This first image was taken in the early 1930's from the St Gerard-Mt Carmel Church that was
under construction. The building in the lower right corner was the "Alfred Lausier Store"
and behind it was the "Grand Isle Lumber Co./ Boarding house.
The store is currently Ursela's Redemtion which closed a few years ago.
Notice the piles of rocks in the St John River, they were used for logging operations, and still
exist today, I was told the rocks were hauled to the frozen river, and were dumped into
huge holes that were cut out of the ice.

2. This photo was taken the same time as photo #1, and shows the church view looking
to the East side of town. The lower - left building was demolished in 1938, to
make room for the Sisters Convent, the building was sold to R. Henderson
at about the late 1980's to early 1990's, and was later sold to B. Bouley in Sept 2001.
( GrandIsleMaine.com is run from the old Convent).
The 1st "in town" Grand Isle School, built in 1905, is shown with its bell tower on the roof,
two schools have replaced the building over the years. In the rear of the photo you will
notice a cluster of buildings, that lead to the ferry crossing, across the St John River
into Green River, NB, Canada. In the bottom - right of this photo is part of the
wooden scaffold used by the construction workers to erect the steeple of the church.

3. Sitting on a calvert in front of the "Lincoln" School is (left to right) Adrienne , Dora, & Elmer Beaulieu
with "Buster" the dog. We need your help to identify the two people on the right...any ideas?

4. Photo of Teacher Blanche Beaulieu Soucy's class.
Leonard Doucette's house can be seen on the left....I wonder if that's his wife near the house?
More Photos to be posted soon!
